Founders and NYC Team

Once upon a time, A Colombian and an Indonesian met in Russia...

And in 2011, Zehan and Daniel opened the doors to Lattente, their first specialty coffee shop in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

With time, coffee culture in Buenos Aires began to shift. People went from expecting “umbrella juice” (yup, that’s a real phrase) to appreciating high-quality coffee with a healthy bean-to-cup journey.

As Lattente’s coffee grew more and more popular, Zehan and Daniel opened up six cafes throughout the city. Each location has its own personality, but they were all built on the same simple but powerful idea: Start with great coffee, and everything else will follow.

Zehan and Mohammed “Mo” met in an Indonesian restaurant in Queens for the first time in 2020 through a friend who knows they are both in the coffee business. A year later, Mo joined our team in Brooklyn as a partner and cafe manager. He brings over five years of experience in coffee, and you’ll love his friendly vibes.

Now, there’s Lattente cafe in NYC. And lucky for you...

It’s right here in Brooklyn.

Come find us at our newest location: 219 Bedford Avenue, between North 4th St. & North 5th St. (That’s 3 blocks from the L, and a block and half away from Joe’s Pizza)

Locals are saying we make a great addition to the neighborhood :-)

Little cafe. Big ideas.

Come for the cafecito. Keep coming back for the community.

When you drink Lattente, you support:

A local business
run by an immigrant mom of 2 little ones

We’re just getting started in NYC, but we’ve been killing the coffee game for a while now

  • All our baristas receive careful training to ensure the same high-quality coffee at all our locations

  • Zehan, co-founder, was named Champion of Argentina’s 2013’s Exigí Buen Café competition (that means Demand Good Coffee—which, we do!)

  • Daniel, co-owner, won Argentina’s National Barista Competition in 2012

  • Our coffee’s so good, we made it on Argentine TV! Lattente has been featured on Todo Noticias and Cocineros Argentinos.

  • In 2014, we held Buenos Aires’s first-ever Latte Art Competition, and used it to raise funds for a nonprofit dedicated to community development.
